Here are a few tips to help with any kind of needlework.

How to wash your needlework

Did you know that you should launder your needlework before framing it? After completing a project run a basin of cool or lukewarm water with a gentle soap in it. Gently agitate the project and allow it to soak for about 20 minutes. Rinse well under clear water until all traces of soap have been removed.

Place project between two towels to remove excess water. Once the project is almost dry, iron it face down on towels until it is dry and blocked into it's final shape. Do not use steam as it may cause colours to run.

Be cautious if your project uses hand-dyed threads such as Overdyed Floss, Watercolours, and Silks they should not be laundered as the colours will run. Attach charms after washing. Beads may be attached first, but if they are plastic, and not glass they will melt under the iron.

Dry hands?

Are you having a tough time with rough, dry hands, yet you do not want to use a greasy lotion? Try bag-balm. Many needlework stores carry it (as do many farm supply stores).
